Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
We continue our Lenten journey together in this season of penitence, remembering Christ’s temptation, arrest, trial, agony,
and crucifixion all for our sake. Lent is a time of self-examination, a time for a spiritual tune up as we anticipate the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Here are the special services in Holy Week, including an additional service on Good Friday:
Palm Sunday, March 29. Services at 8 am and 10:30 am.
Maundy Thursday, April 2, 7 pm. Christ’s Last Supper with the disciples before his crucifixion is commemorated.
Good Friday, April 3, Noon. Stations of the Cross. This is a new service. Christ’s journey to the Cross is remembered with Scripture readings and contemplative prayers at the site of the stations in the nave.
Good Friday, 7 pm. The crucifixion of Christ and the significance of the Cross are examined in Scripture readings, and
traditional hymns.
Easter Sunday, April 5. 8 am and 10:30 am. Christ’s victory over death is celebrated.
Rector’s Remarks
“Exploring Lent” the Lenten potluck and discussion group continues on Wednesdays at 6 pm until March 25, with no meeting during Holy Week.
Vestry News/Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of Christ The King takes place Sunday, March 15 at 9:30 am. The congregational meeting will elect three new members of the Vestry. Information about the nominees will be available. I’ll also be sharing my report on the parish as well.
I’m praying Lent has been a special time of drawing closer to Christ and a time to remember what a great gift the Father gave us in the person of Jesus.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Pete Falk
Rector
